Religious Practice
Old York Road Temple-Beth Am is an egalitarian congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). We welcome all to participate in our religious services, which combine contemporary and traditional liturgy and melodies in meaningful prayer. While honoring our traditions reaching back through millennia, our services also address issues of today’s world through a Jewish lens.
Open our Shabbat siddur, Mishkan Tefilah, and you will find the keva—traditional prayers with transliteration and translation. Opposite, on the left page, you’ll find alternate creative readings. Whether you find yourself singing/reading along with the clergy and congregation, or perhaps you’ll find some alternate favorite readings as you become familiar with the siddur, or just speak to the Eternal One in silent meditation, kol hakavod; it’s all good! Wearing Tallit and Kipah are optional.
